UPDATE: Put Off / Put On Daily Prayers for Freedom in Christ

Facebook icon Twitter icon Forward icon

All of us have areas of weakness; our Achilles heel. Sometimes we have lived with the weakness for so long that we give up the struggle of hoping for release and victory over this area.
In the Bible's New Testament letter to the Ephesians, chapter 4, verses 21-24 the Apostle Paul teaches all of us:
… when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
A Booklet of Daily Prayers or an iCal Calendar
My Put Off / Put On calendar is just one way to systematically consider all the possible sins and strongholds we need to "put off," and corresponding character qualities to embrace and "put on" to live with joyful freedom in Christ.*
Here is a link to an 80 page .pdf booklet you can read and pray through in a month (31 days). It will help you systematically "clean house" on areas where you may have weakness and have "given the Devil a foothold" in your life. The .pdf can also be saved to a kindle or other readers.
If you are "tech savvy" instructions on how to subscribe to the iCal version is at the bottom of this email. In this version, the daily topics automatically repeat each month, so if you miss a day, you'll come around to it again the next month.
With Hope for Blessing and the Joy of Being Completely Free!

What Prompted Me?
In our last year living in Singapore (2013), I took a course with a ministry called Restoring the Foundations and learned more about the many false beliefs we embrace unknowingly, or how we might open doors to the Enemy of our souls through ungodly activity/exposure. There are also sins of our fathers and the resulting curses that affect us even when we are innocent (Exodus 20:3-6).
The list of areas that may affect us seemed formidably long. For me, with my short attention span, the long list was overwhelming. So I broke it down into 31 manageable segments. This way I can daily pray for myself and for others who struggle with those issues dealing with one issue a day. I started making the iCal calendar, but some friends recently asked if I'd make all those entries into a document that can be printed and read.
*SAMPLE: Day 14
Pray for COMPASSION & to be a COMFORT
Love in action.
"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly defend the rights of the poor and needy." Proverbs 31:8, 9
"The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
Luke 4:28-19
“Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.” Proverbs 12:25 NIV
“Jesus said, ‘Peace I leave with you my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.’" John 14:27
“Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures; yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.” Psalm 90:10

Pray against DESPAIRING WITHOUT HOPE
Lord, do I need freedom from any of these strongholds in me?
Anguish
Crying
Disappointment
Grief
Heartbreak
Giving up hope
Isolation
Loss
Pain
Regret
Sorrow
Torment
Weeping
As a child of God, purchased by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, I choose to confess and acknowledge my despairing about _____. [name them]
In the name of Jesus, I now renounce the despair in my ancestors that may have caused this stronghold in me. I release myself from the effects of any curse or ungodly dedications by my ancestors. Based on the finished work of Christ on the cross, I release myself from any demonic claims upon or oppression of me that have caused me to lose hope.
I affirm that I have been crucified with Jesus Christ and raised to walk in newness of life. On this basis, I announce to Satan and all his forces that Christ took upon himself the curses and judgments due me.
I also break all curses that I have spoken or thought about myself that have lead to this despair. I also break the power of any curses I have spoken about others and caused them to despair. I receive my freedom from every one of these curses.
If I learned these sins from people in my past, I choose to forgive and release them and not hold them accountable for each and every way that their sin has affected me. [Name memories that come to mind and choose to forgive for each instance.]
Because I have been raised up with Christ and now sit with him in the heavenly places, where I have a place as a member of God's family, I declare myself to be completely and eternally signed over to, owned by, and committed to, The Lord Jesus Christ. HE IS MY HOPE AND SALVATION!
I will trust in the promises of God that “sorrow may last for the night, but joy comes in the morning.” [Psalm 30:5] Thus I break every curse that has come upon me, and believe that this bleak winter season of sorrow will pass and that you Lord will walk with me into a new season of spring in my life.
Lord, I am sorry for giving in to despair. I ask you to forgive me for this and to wash me clean. I choose to receive your forgiveness. In repentance, I ask you to teach me to identify and remove any “stinking thinking” when it enters my mind.
I believe you will do this, because by thinking rightly about who I am in you, and your promises for my future, you will give me the strength to face the challenges of today and will renew my hope and confidence.
I pray in the name and with the authority of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Amen!

Mothers Day Letter to My Mom

2015

May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:9-14
Dear Mom,

Well here we are again at another Mother’s Day. The annual day that guilty children get to try to make up for a year of neglect and mistreatment toward their hardworking, longsuffering mothers.

As I remember it, you always used to say, “Don’t make a big deal about me on Mother’s Day. That’s for those who don’t have a good relationship with their mom and feel guilty.…Be good to me all year round and then you don’t have to grovel on Mother’s Day!”

Still, how can we help but get sentimental…what with all the seasonal TV commercials reminding us about how wonderful our moms are, and why buying a product will somehow make us more honorable offspring.

While living in Asia, even without the sentimental Mother’s Day traditions and advertising, the least I could do for you was to get on the FTD website and send you some rotting floral arrangement. And why is that?

Perhaps because even with your permission to not participate in the commercialism of the holiday, I felt guilty. Neglectful. We were living so far away and making you an orphan mom year after year while your peers went to brunch. I’m glad to be from a society that makes such a big deal about the mothers. Even if it is commercialized and only one day a year. It’s a good reminder for all the narcissistic offspring to consider who laid the foundation in life for us.

You were such a good, creative, energetic, talented, hardworking, efficient and godly Mom. I looked up to you growing up and wanted to be like you in your ability to juggle so much with such excellence and a good attitude.

Now that you are in a different season and your contribution to the family is different than the multi-tasking working mom, I admire you even more.

In your Golden Years, you are peaceful, kind, loving, sweet, caring, warm. It makes me cry to think about how wonderful it is to be around you these past few years.
In church yesterday YLFC Pastor Matthew asked us to fill in the blank, “My mom always said…” Here’s my list from only thinking a couple of minutes:

·      Is the Pope a Catholic?
·      Always wear a slip.
·      Here's a dime...[call someone who cares]
·      Bastanté es bastanté.
·      Just do it. (Before the Nike campaign…in fact before Nike!)
·      Traps Kim, traps.
·      Oh, get over it.
·      You'd lose your head if it wasn't fastened on.

Yeah, in earlier years, your warm heart as a mother was expressed more in the TONS of cards you wrote for every occasion. When you wrote to me it was always affirming and Godly messages on cards and letters. I have many of them scanned and stored as treasured photos. Here’s a couple of favorites:

 (1885)     (2004)
Thank you for a lifetime of treasured memories. In my heart, and on my hard drive!

As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem. Isaiah 66:13

Love,
Your Firstborn, Kimberly Eileen
